We also have great Mortgage teams based in both Kildare and Galway, who are ready and able to help you get the right deal from the Mortgage Banks in Ireland. Joe McKeogh

Director, BFS

As Director of Financial Services at Murray & Spelman (Financial Services) Ltd, Joe leads a team of financial planning professionals. He specialises in providing financial advice to clients and businesses with large investment and retirement portfolios. His experience enables him to integrate advice across a broad spectrum of financial planning issues. Joe joined Murray & Spelman (Financial Services) in 2003 having held a number of senior management positions at Bank of Ireland Retail and Private Banking over 20 years. He was educated at University College Dublin followed by The Smurfit Graduate Business School.

Andriú J. Mac Lochlainn

Director, BA, QFA, RPA, SIA

Andriú Mac Lochlainn joined Murray & Spelman Financial Services Ltd in July 2018 as the Head of Financial Planning after running his own Financial Services business for 5 years. Andriú was appointed as a Director in Nov 2019. He works closely with the other Directors, in particular with Joe on the strategic planning and our house view relating to Protection, Mortgages, Pensions, Savings and Investments. He holds a BA in business studies, a QFA (Qualified Financial Advisor), RPA designation (Retirement Planning Advisor) attained through the LIA. He holds an SIA (Specialist Investment Advisor) designation through the IOB and UCD and is currently halfway through attaining a CFP qualification. Certified Financial Planner™ professional or CFP® certification is the world’s most widely respected financial planning designation and it marks the Certified Financial Planner as being professional, competent, ethical, and professional to the highest global standards. Andriú is also a 5-time qualifying member of MDRT, members need to demonstrate exceptional professional knowledge, strict ethical conduct, and outstanding client service. Andriu uses his high level of technical knowledge and experience to provide a holistic outlook when advising his personal and business clients. He likes to be involved in helping clients on a wide range of financial planning areas, and his specialist qualifications allow him to give in-depth advice and insight. He places great importance on communicating complex matters in a clear, understandable, and transparent manner.

Michael Culhane

Managing Director

Bringing 30 years’ experience to his position as Managing Director of Murray & Spelman, Michael has ensured that through strong leadership and dedication to our clients, the company has developed to become one of the leading combined Insurance and Finance businesses in the country.

Brian McCormack

Financial Advisor, QFA

Brian is completing a 3 year BA (Hons) Degree in Insurance Practice for Life and Financial Services. This is a new programme introduced by The Insurance Institute and IT Sligo. He will develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary for a successful career in the Financial Services industry. Brian is involved in all aspects of Financial Planning.

Dermot Staunton

Financial Advisor, B. Comm, QFA, LIB Chartered Banker

Dermot joined Murray & Spelman (Financial Services) Ltd in October 2015. He is a Qualified Financial Adviser, holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree along with the professional distinction of Chartered Banker.Dermot has worked in Retail Banking, and has held positions in Bank of Ireland Asset Management, Bank of Ireland Private Banking and Friends First Insurance Company, along with running his own financial brokerage. With over 25 years’ experience in the Financial industry and utilising cash flow modelling software, his focus is on providing in-depth financial advice through comprehensive financial planning.

Graham Shiels

Mortgage Development Manager, QFA RPA SIA

Graham Shiels (Mortgage Development Manager) QFA, RPA, SIA expert in Residential Mortgages for First Time Buyers & Second Time Buyers looking to trade up or down, Self-builds, re-mortgages (switchers) release equity or buy to let. Graham works evenings to accommodate customers who have a busy work schedule during the day, he will meet you at a place and time that suits you. Graham prides himself in being there for the customer throughout the whole mortgage journey from beginning to end. Graham wants to ensure the customer has a stress free mortgage experience. Graham has worked for Ulster Bank and previously managed a mortgage brokerage.

Michelle Maloney

Financial Advisor, QFA

Bringing over 12 years’ experience of safeguarding clients financial needs, Michelle is responsible for providing professional and best practice advice to develop clear financial plans for new and existing clients. Her specialities include Protection, Pensions, Investments and Mortgages. Prior to joining Murray & Spelman (Financial Services) Ltd in 2016, Michelle spent many years as part of the management team in Bank of Ireland and previously worked in numerous roles including Cash, Customer service, Customer Advisor, Mortgage Advisor, and Customer Services Manager. Michelle has acquired a profound level of knowledge since completing her Professional Diploma in Financial Advice and is an asset to the Murray & Spelman financial services team.

Richie Murray


Richie has been with Murray Spelman (Financial Services) Ltd since 2007. He is a qualified financial advisor and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies Degree from the University of Limerick. Richie identifies tax efficient opportunities and cost saving measures for individuals and companies. He also advises on mortgage planning and pension planning for the self-employed. Richie captained the Galway U 21 team to All Ireland glory as well as his native club St. Thomas’s in the All Ireland Club final.

Diane Collins

Operations Manager, BA ISM, QFA

Diane joined Murray & Spelman (Financial Services) Ltd as a Financial Consultant in October 2012. Her role is to offer independent advice in key areas of family & business protection, mortgages, savings & investments and retirement planning. Diane’s educational qualifications include, Qualified Financial Advisor, Mortgage Advice Diploma, BA in Information Systems Management and a Certificate in Accounting and Computing.

Dervail O’Connor

Dervail joined Murray & Spelman (Financial Services) Ltd in 2007. She is a Qualified Financial Advisor and a member of the LIA. Dervail works directly with both Corporate and Individual Clients and has vast experience in the areas of Wealth Management and Financial Services offering expertise on all aspects of Life and Pensions.

Breda Broughall

Qualified Financial Advisor

With 18+ year’s administration experience in financial planning, life, pensions and mortgages, Breda is responsible for providing professional advice to develop clear financial plans for new and existing clients. Her qualifications include being a Qualified Financial Advisor and holding a Certificate in Business Studies. Breda has an incalculable level of financial knowledge and brings a fresh new perspective to the Murray & Spelman (Financial Services) Ltd Team.
